During his three years playing for the Gators, Hernandez amassed 1,382 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns and won the 2009 John Mackey Award for nation's best collegiate tight end. After his career as a Gator, Hernandez, with the New England Patriots, went on to start the 2010 NFL season as the youngest player on any active roster that season.
